The pseudostems are stripped into long fibers by hand, then sun-dried, softened, and spun by artisan weavers in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The resulting yarn has a natural sheen that rivals silk — thanks to the banana plant's natural waxes — yet it breathes like linen.
